Reading Town, my Ball and Chain

Okay finally news and pictures of my school!

I work at a hagwon (academy) called Reading Town, in Namcheon, Busan. I teach from around 2:50-9:00, with a couple of classes off in between usually. Kids come for blocks of two classes before heading off to their next crazy learning activity. Kids here are always tired!

There are 3 foreign teachers, including Me, Sara, and Jason. There are four Korean teachers that also teach English. We are paired with a Korean teacher, so that the kids have both Korean and Foreign teachers. The Korean ladies love to teach me little phrases, which I usually forget pretty fast, but I still try! We all work together in a little office. The Korean teachers always bring in little snacks for everyone. Here's the office:

I teach several reading levels, probably the equivalent of 1st grade, 3rd and 5th grade. I also teach writing (we're working on the paragraph!), comprehension (reading essays and answering questions) and phonics for the little kids, which includes lots of pictures and learning sounds. I like the more advanced classes, obviously. The kids can communicate more and usually it goes a lot faster. The lower reading classes are slow and the kids are more apt to misbehave. I am also tired of reading a 10 page story about bears!! Ahh! :-)
