Bang Twins Re-united (minus one set of bangs)
Kendall and I were once aptly named the Bang Twins because we both had bangs (duh) and we tended to show up to most places together. Imagine my dismay when she let hers grow out :( Nonetheless, Kendawg gets major props for being my first visitor in Bogota! The day after the club, everyone lounged around and nursed hangovers. When we finally got up, it was decided we needed to see some mothaeffin GOLD. Hence, we took a ridiculously circuitous taxi ride (always cheatin' the ferriners) to the Museo del Oro, which contains the world's largest pre-Hispanic gold collection. Bling everywhere in sight.
After the museo, it was beer o'clock so we found a nearby BBC and had a little hair of the dawg. Once our bodies were strengthened and fortified, we took a walk down the septima, which is closed for pedestrians sometimes. We saw more cheap crap being sold on the street than an Alabama yard sale. We had to keep telling Armin to stop trying on hats, bless his (possibly lice-covered) soul. The winner of the day was when we stumbled across guinea pig races. Yes. The object was to bet which colored house the guinea pig would enter. The excitement was almost too much to bear- watch the video and experience it yourself. We finally made it to our destination...another BBC! I sense you are starting to understand what this trip waslike...
That night, we decided to check out the free concert series...this time it was Hip Hop al Parque and Armin (a DJ) was stoked to realize DJ Premier (his idol) was performing. So we beered up and headed down for the show. Armin and I ended up getting separated from Kendall and Joe, but we had a great time by ourselves. It was hilarious when DJ Premier started yelling in English to the crowd and suddenly 5, 10, then 20 faces were all turned towards us looking for a translation! Luckily it was pretty easy phrases like "Get your hands up!" "I love you motherf*ckers!" and "Say it with me..." Suddenly I was queen of hip hop instructions, haha. Perhaps this calls for an English for Specific Purposes course in my future...
Unfortunately, Joe hurt his back at the show, so our plans for the next few days were limited. Basically, we ate, drank, played cards and dice, and had a great time regardless of the fact that Joe couldn't do much. We certainly know how to make the best of things! And thank goodness, Joe recovered quickly.
Kendall departed that Friday while I was at school, and I was pretty bummed out. I wanted her to stay forever :) I'm happy to say it was a successful trip and that Kendall is one helluva friend! So...who's next???
