Mark's last day in Bogota
We flew from Pereira to Bogota around 1pm and Andres came to pick us up. Unfortunately, he had to work so he wasn't able to join us for lunch. As it was Mark's last day, I still had to stuff him full of a few more Colombian dishes! Andres recommended a traditional restaurant in La Candelaria (right next to all our other places!) and Mark and I took a local bus there. We ate ajiaco and sancocho, two very common soups that are so yummy! We also had some juices to complete the tropical fruit circuit. Afterwards, we took one last jaunt down the Septima so Mark could buy some souvenirs and then back to the house. Nap time!
We joined a group of my friends for dinner at a Colombian fusion restaurant and the food was so good! Mark was also able to try his last Colombian brewery, Apostal. After dinner ended, Mark and I left and met up with Andres and his friends 2 blocks away at the BBC bodega for a few pitchers of beer. It was really funny watching Mark try to have small conversations in Spanish- he did so good! I was impressed. My friend Corrie met us there and when the bar closed (at 10), the three of us went to a club called Latino Power for some live music. Even though I had originally wanted to take Mark salsa dancing, I think it was a cool experience - the music included champeta and cumbia, two forms of Colombian music. It was funny because we ran into another coworker at the concert! Our group joined his and we danced until almost 2 in the morning. We got back to the house and passed out for 3 hours..and then I had to wake up and call a cab for Mark because his flight was at 7am! I gave the cab driver instructions and sent Mark off to the airport. I was bummed he had to leave, but so happy we had such a great time together! Another one for the books, and memories that will last forever! We have now traveled together in 2 continents...I wonder where we might go next? I suppose the next time will include a new niece or nephew! Yay!
