The Adventure Begins!

This is my last blog in Korea. It's 1:42. I have 5 hours before I have to head to the airport for....the Philippines! Yes! Ahhh!

So I know that many people want to know my plans for traveling. I have some ideas, but I'm also hoping to leave room for spontaneous decisions and general unexpected merriment. First, I'm going to an island in the Philippines called Palawan. It's a large island with multiple cities. I'll stay there for 2.5 weeks. Then it's to Malaysian Borneo (jungle and river boats!) for 2 weeks, then Indonesia (Java, Bali, and Lombak islands) for 3ish weeks. After that, it's less clear where I'll be, since I haven't bought any plane tickets that far ahead. I'm planning on flying from Bali to Singapore in early December, and making my way up through Peninsular Malaysia and meeting some friends in Thailand for Christmas. Then onward to Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. Haven't really planned specifics that far ahead.

Ambitious, yes. Possible? Heck yes. I realize I may have to pick and choose places over others the further into the trip, but I want to see as much as I can, and really experience each country. I don't really have a time frame, so it depends on money. I'll keep an eye on my resources! And then one day I'll just buy a ticket home and let everyone know! Haha.

Okay you may have noticed I said "meet up with friends for Christmas." What about friends before then, you ask? Well, this is a solo backpacking trip. I know this worries a lot of people (sorry Mom and Dad!!!!) but I'm really excited to do it. I have talked to numerous people in Korea who have already traveled to the places I'm going, including other solo girl travelers and have gotten loads of great advice. Obviously, I am going to keep my wits about me, and err on the side of caution. Right now, I'm equally parts excited and terrified! I just have to go out there with my friendly face on, and meet great people and see and do amazing things! I can't wait to see what I learn about myself and the world. It's a great feeling, I tell you! I will keep in contact as much as I possibly can, via this blog and facebook and email. If you feel I haven't contacted you in a while, please lecture me. I don't want anyone to worry!

Now, wish me luck and keep me in your prayers, I'm about to embark on a seriously fantastical journey!
